Superyacht Crew Training Guide: How to Choose the Right Package?
Embarking on a career in the superyacht industry requires more than just enthusiasm — it needs recognized certificates, practical licenses and a clear direction. At Seascope France, we have designed specific training packs aimed at new entrants whether they want to be deckhands, stewards or stewardesses, or specialize in tender operations. Our “Get Started on Yachts” packs bundle together the mandatory baseline training and additional modules that give knowledge, skills and certificates sought by employers.
Why choose a yacht crew training pack?
-
The baseline qualification — the STCW Basic Safety Training — is compulsory for any commercial vessel work. All new yachting careers start here.
-
A training pack ensures you combine that baseline with targeted modules (e.g., tender driving, jet skis, interior service), so your CV is ready for roles onboard.
-
From a budget and scheduling perspective, selecting a pack saves money and time compared to scheduling separate stand-alone courses.
-
Being based in Antibes on the Côte d’Azur, Seascope France offers a location deeply embedded in the superyacht hub — ideal for networking and placement readiness.

I want to be a yacht deckhand. Which pack should I choose?
The right pack will depend on your professional background, knowledge, and experience. If you have no experience on deck at all and cannot even imagine what a yacht deckhand does, you might want to opt for the Full Deckhand pack which includes mandatory STCW training, valuable RYA powerboat and personal watercraft licenses, and a special 2-day course designed to learn about ropes, knots, maintenance and products, and onboard etiquette.
Overview of the yacht steward / stewardess training bundles
| Training Pack | Approx. Duration | Cost (€) | Value-Proposition |
|---|---|---|---|
| Basic Interior Pack | 10 work days | 2,050 | STCW + Yacht Steward/ess service training; ideal for new interior crew. |
| Full Interior & Tender Pack | 12 work days | 2,500 | Interior service training plus online Food Safety and Hygiene and tender operation certificates; versatile skill set. |
I want to be a yacht steward / ess. What pack should I choose?
Both packs include STCW and IAMI/ GUEST Yacht Steward/ess certification, however Full Interior and Tender pack offers two more valuable certificates - Food Safety Level 2 and RYA Powerboat Handling. Food Hygiene and Safety certification is mandatory for all crew handling food onboard; Powerboat certificate gives an extra advantage and makes a candidate more suitable for combined deck/stew roles.
