RYA Day Skipper (MOTOR)
RYA Day Skipper course gives hands-on experience in navigation, pilotage, seamanship, and boat handling. Upon completion of the course, candidates can skipper a motor cruiser in familiar waters by day. The Day Skipper Practical course is a further step after RYA Day Skipper Theory which is now available online. The two courses combined allow to use the Day Skipper license for commercial purposes.

Pre-requisites
1. Candidates must be at least 18 years old to take the course.
2. Candidates must have two days of practical experience on a motor cruiser and hold Powerboat Level 2 license.
3. We strongly recommend to complete the online RYA Essential Navigation and Seamanship course before attending RYA Day Skipper Practical. The Essential Navigation course provides with the basic knowledge of buoyage, navigation, anchoring, safety, tides etc.
4. If you take the RYA Day Skipper Practical course to obtain your license for commercial purposes, you are required to complete the RYA Day Skipper Theory course as well. This course can be taken both online and offline.
About the course
The 4-day RYA Day Skipper Practical course is intended to hone boat driving and handling skills to meet the required standards of skippering small yachts by day. Over the period of their training students are introduced to the
- electronic navigation,
- passage making
- and night passaging,
- marine engines
- and safety equipment.
The RYA Day Skipper Practical course is highly recommended to those candidates who plan to work towards their Yachtmaster Offshore qualification.
Note: The RYA Day Skipper license is valid for motor vessels of up to 24 meters.
