Basic Interior pack comprises two essential courses to get started on yachts as a steward or stewardess: STCW Basic Safety training and Yacht Steward/ess (IAMI/GUEST approved Introduction to Superyacht Interior) training. STCW Basic Safety (BST) is a mandatory training for all seafarers who wish to work on commercial vessels and the minimum requirement to enter superyacht industry. IAMI/GUEST Yacht Steward/ess training is an auxiliary course that equips crew with knowledge of the superyacht interior crew duties and skills needed to deliver excellent service onboard. 

Basic Interior pack offers an advantageous solution for new entrants who wish to obtain both mandatory and additional (special) qualifications and feel confident to undertake the duties of a junior stew. By booking the pack, you save 200 euros on your training and walk away with four certificates - MCA STCW Basic Safety training, Proficiency in Security Awareness, Introduction to Yachting & Yachting Life + Basic Housekeeping and Laundry, and Basic Food & Beverage Service + Basic Wine, Bartending & Mixology

  • Place: Golfe-Juan - Vallauris, 405 Chemin du Gaz 
    Duration: 5 days

Pack fee: 2000 euros

Booking: you can secure your place on the training with either full payment or 50% deposit.

About the courses

STCW Basic Safety training

STCW Basic Safety Training is a 5-day course comprised of five modules:

The course equips trainees with essential skills and knowledge necessary to work safely onboard a seagoing vessel. STCW Basic Safety certificates are the minimum requirement to work on superyachts and commercial vessels over 24 metres in length.

STCW (Standards of Training, Certification and Watchkeeping) courses are run in accordance with section A-VI/1 of the STCW Code including the Manila amendments introduced in 2010.                                                                                  

GUEST / IAMI Yacht Steward/ess training

The G.U.E.S.T program is accredited by the International Association of Maritime Institutions (IAMI) and is the only internationally accredited maritime hospitality program available to crew working in the luxury superyacht sector. The 5-day introductory interior program - Yacht Steward/ess training - covers the following modules: 

  • Yachting and yachting life: demographics of the industry, professional search for a position, life at sea, health and wellbeing, personal presentation, communication etc.
  • Laundry, fabrics and furnishings, safety: professional laundry practices and procedures, handling personal affairs, hanging, storing and placing garments etc.
  • Food and beverage service: standards of presentation, serving food and beverages on yachts, mis en place in service areas, food safery, dierary requirements etc. 
  • Wine, bartending and mixology: wine basics, professional wine service, wine storage onboard a yacht, main spirits and classic service for spirits, tools and methods of cocktail mixing. 

    PLEASE, NOTE THAT YOU MUST BE AT LEAST 18 YEARS OLD TO SIT ON THIS  MODULE. 

Holders of IAMI GUEST certificates are eligible to apply for GUEST Hospitality Certificate of Competency (CoC). 

Accommodation

Our trainings and packages do not include accommodation. However, we work closely with a number of crew houses in Antibes that offer accommodation. Please, check the list here.

the STCW Basic safety Training was a very interesting course! We learned so much and the practice looked really real so it is a big plus to me.
And the GUEST Course was also very nice. We even got to practice on a real yacht which was amazing !!!
