This pack is designed for future yacht stewards and stewardesses who want to stand out and have a full set of skills and certificates for a successful career onboard including baseline STCW Basic Safety Training, GUEST/IAMI approved Yacht Steward/ess course (basic superyacht interior training), Level 2 Food Safety and Hygiene, and RYA Powerboat Handling Level 2. It is a comprehensive training pack that prepares future yacht stews to deliver an excellent service onboard and advance their career in the yacht interior department towards Chief Steward/ess, Purser, and Interior Manager roles. 

Important: To complete the Basic Wine, Bartending & Mixology module of the Yacht Steward/ess course, you need to be at least 18 years old.

STCW Basic Safety Training

  • Pre-requisites: min 16 years old; good command of English

GUEST/IAMI Yacht Steward/ess Training

  • Place: Antibes / Golfe Juan
  • Duration: 5 days
  • Pre-requisites: good command of English; be at least 18 years on the day of the Basic Wine, Bartending & Mixology module

Level 2 Food Safety & Hygiene Course

  • Fully online; no pre-requisites. You received access to the course upon booking the training pack. 

RYA Powerboat Level 2

  • Place: Golfe Juan
  • Pre-requisites: good command of English
  • Duration: 2 days

About The Courses

STCW Basic Safety Training

STCW Basic Safety Training is a 5-day course comprised of five modules:

The course provides students with an important introduction to working at sea and will equip them with necessary skills and knowledge to work safely onboard a seagoing vessel. Once students obtain STCW Basic Safety Training, they meet the minimum mandatory requirement for working on superyachts and commercial vessels over 24 metres in length.

The STCW (Standards of Training, Certification and Watch keeping) courses are run in accordance with section A-VI/1 of the STCW Code including the Manila amendments introduced in 2010.       

GUEST/IAMI Yacht Steward/ess Training

The G.U.E.S.T program is accredited by the International Association of Maritime Institutions (IAMI) and is the only internationally accredited maritime hospitality program available to crew working in the luxury superyacht sector. Covered modules include: 

  • Yachting and yachting life: demographics of the industry, professional search for a position, life at sea, health and wellbeing, personal presentation, communication etc.
  • Laundry, fabrics and furnishings, safety: professional laundry practices and procedures, handling personal affairs, hanging, storing and placing garments etc.
  • Food and beverage service: standards of presentation, serving food and beverages on yachts, mis en place in service areas, food safety, dietary requirements etc. 
  • Wine, bartending and mixology: wine basics, professional wine service, wine storage onboard a yacht, main spirits and classic service for spirits, tools and methods of cocktail mixing.

RYA Powerboat Level 2

This two-day comprehensive course covers all aspects of powerboats, boat handling, safety and pilotage. The RYA Level 2 certificates are recognized by the UK Coastguard and are used as a tender license onboard larger yachts.

What This Pack Includes

The pack includes four courses - STCW Basic Safety (STCW 95/2010), Level 2 Food Safety online course; Powerboat Handling Level 2 course, and Yacht Stew training course (GUEST Introduction to Interior Training). There is no additional fee for the course certificates or course materials.
