About the course
Basic Housekeeping and Laundry course introduces trainees to various aspects of superyacht interior maintenance and guest and crew care. It gives a comprehensive idea to junior stews what they are expected to know when carrying out housekeeping duties onboard superyachts and thus gives them confidence when stepping into the role.
The course covers a wide range of housekeeping and laundry - related topics:
- Standard operating procedures and planning
- General / detail cleaning
- Cleaning caddies
- Housekeeping with guests onboard
- Bedroom and bathroom cleaning procedures
- Materials and fabrics and applicable products
- Laundry guidelines and labels
- Stain removal
- Washing, drying, and ironing onboard
- Folding etc.
Onboard practice
Basic Housekeeping and Laundry Services course is highly practical, and whenever possible, we arrange the training onboard a superyacht located within walking distance from the classroom. The onboard practice gives students a thorough idea of what superyacht interior is and how to perform various duties in a more efficient way.
Certification
Upon successful completion of the module and assessments, students are awarded an IAMI GUEST Certificate of Completion issued through IAMI Certificate platform.
IAMI / GUEST Program
Basic Housekeeping and Laundry module is a part of introductory yacht interior training (Yacht Steward/ess course). The Yacht Steward/ess training is a 5-day course that gives trainees a comprehensive overview of yachting industry and working on yachts (Introduction to Yachting and Yachting Life), Basic Wine, Bartending & Mixology, and Basic Food and Beverage Services. GUEST / IAMI Program is designed to meet the standards of the superyacht industry, and all the training is specifically tailored to the tasks carried out by interior crew.
