STCW Fire Prevention & Fire Fighting (FPFF)
STCW Fire Prevention and Fire Fighting (STCW A-VI/1-2.1.2) is a part of the mandatory Basic Safety Training and STCW Refresher course. It is also the first step towards Advanced Fire Fighting training. The course covers the basics of fire causes on vessels, the use of extinguishers, firefighting techniques etc.

About the course
This training is required for new entrants and ship personnel re-validating certificates when joining their ships. This course is accredited by the MCA and provides part of the statutory basic training requirements for seafarers. Maritime establishments are well aware of the implications of possible fires aboard ship, particularly at sea when assistance is rarely possible. Having well-trained and competent crew to deal with fire situations is therefore invaluable.
This course will provide all the basics from fire prevention and firefighting skills to the causes of fires aboard ship and dealing with fires both safely and efficiently. The content includes:
