Terms of service
The following terms and conditions apply to the booking of SEASCOPE FRANCE - AKA `Seascope` training courses:
Course bookings:
Bookings can be made online, via the website www.yachtcrewtraining.com, by email (sophie@seascopefrance.com), or by telephone (+33 (0)6 08 68 95 31). Telephone bookings must be confirmed in writing upon request.
By booking your training online, you acknowledge and agree to be bound by our Terms and Conditions, including all policies related to payment, cancellations, and certification.
Any person wanting to benefit from the discounted rates applied to the training packages must book within a 3-month period.
Payment Terms:
Our standard payment term is that a payment is taken at booking - unless otherwise stated. This can be a deposit payment or full payment. If payment by invoice has been previously agreed, the payment for this is immediate and must be paid before the start of the reserved course date - unless other arrangements have been previously agreed.
Certificates of completion, including any related documentation or registration with relevant authorities, will not be issued, delivered, or registered until full payment for the course has been received and cleared. This applies to all participants, regardless of course type or completion status. It is the responsibility of the participant to ensure
that payment is made in full prior to the expected issuance date of any certificate.
Deposits and Cancellation:
Upon enquiry of the availability of the training spaces, a minimum of 50% deposit of the value of the course is to be made. This will secure a place on the selected course. If you cancel at least 30 days prior to the start of the course, you will receive a full refund minus a 10% administration fee. If you cancel between 30 and 14 days prior to the start of the
course, you will receive 50% refund. If you cancel less than 14 days prior to the start of the course, you will not receive a refund. Cancellation MUST be made in writing to info@seascopefrance.com and sophie@seascopefrance.com. Should
circumstances mean that you need to transfer to another course date, this can be accommodated when possible. Agreed credit held with Seascope France will need to be used within a 12-month period from the date of approval.
Non-Attendance:
If you do not attend a course, and you have not previously informed us, the full course fee remains payable.
Non-Attendance due to a compelling reason requires proof by a medical professional.
Late arrivals and missed sessions:
If you arrive late for a course, or are absent from any session, Seascope reserves the right to refuse to accept you for training if we feel that you gain insufficient knowledge or skill in the time remaining. In such cases, the full course fee remains payable. Any issues relating to the prevention of travel is NOT the responsibility of Seascope France. To conform with Maritime Coastguard Agency (MCA), Royal Yachting Association (RYA) and GUEST requirements for certification,attendance at all sessions is mandatory.
Updated Proficiency Courses (Refresher Training):
To be eligible to attend Updated Proficiency Courses,students must present proof of the required pre-requisites for course attendance.
Unforeseen Circumstances:
On occasion, unforeseen circumstances may require us to cancel a course. In such circumstances you will be given as much notice as possible and either a free transfer to another course date or a full refund of fees paid. Seascope France is NOT liable for any costs incurred to attend the course and/or provisions made for attending the course.
08.Fair Processing:
All information that Seascope holds concerning you will be held and processed by Seascope and will be held in strict accordance with the provisions of the Data Protection Act. Such data will be used by the organization to administer our relationship with you as a customer for future courses. We will not, without your consent, supply your name and addresses to any (other) third parties where (1) such transfer is a necessary part of the activities we undertake, or (2) we are required to do so by operation of law. Some of our courses are run through third party platforms and we are required to share your details for administrative purposes. As an individual, you have the right under the Data Protection Act 2018 to obtain information from us including a description of the data that we hold on to you. Should you have any queries concerning this, please contact our Administration officer at our Seascope France premises at the addresses on
the bottom of these terms and conditions.
09.Certificate/License collection
Upon completion of the training course, should you be unable to collect your certificate or license directly on completion of the course, it will be stored in the Seascope Administrative office for a period of 12 months.
10.Complaints If you have any concerns or complaints regarding the training school, please direct them to **complaints@seascopefrance.com**. All complaints will be handled confidentially and addressed in accordance with Seascope’s complaints procedure (QP12).
11.Proficiency in English Proficiency in English is a prerequisite for all Seascope courses. Please note that no refunds will be issued if a participant's language skills are insufficient to successfully complete the training. If you are unsure about your English language ability, please contact the Seascope office to discuss your concerns before purchasing a
course.
12. Contingency Plan Seascope is dedicated to ensuring the safety, well-being, and continuity of training in the event of abnormal circumstances. The following measures will be implemented:
12.1 Illness of a Student During a Course:
o Immediate first aid will be provided, if necessary.
o The student will be escorted to a medical facility or emergency services will be contacted.
o The course schedule will be adjusted to accommodate the students’ situation, with alternative arrangements for course completion if required.
12.2 Instructor Falling Ill During a Course:
o A qualified substitute instructor will be promptly assigned to minimize disruption.
o If a substitute is not immediately available, course participants will be informed, and the course schedule will be adjusted accordingly.
12.3 Fire or Other Emergency Events:
o All participants will follow Seascope’s established emergency evacuation procedures, which are
communicated at the start of each course.
o Training will only resume once it is safe, or alternative arrangements will be provided to ensure continuity.
These measures ensure the safety of all participants and uphold the quality and integrity of Seascope’s training programs
