VHF Assessments Available Starting Next Week

What happens once you book our VHF Marine Radio course? You get a registration form to fill out, and with that we create an account for you to start studying. Once you complete the online part, you get a Certificate of Completion showing your overall score. There is a handbook to consult while taking online course, and a hardcopy of it can be picked up from our Seascope France office.

New REG Yacht Code Emphasizes Crew Training in Handling Batteries

The new edition will come into force in July 2024 thus giving time to the industry to prepare. Just like the amended version of the 2019 Code, the updated code recommends minimum 2 crew be ‘adequately trained’ in battery equipment.

Mid-November 2023, when running its Advanced Fire Fighting course, Seascope France had the pleasure of greeting MCA at its fireground in Contes. The training course was successfully re-approved by the Agency, and the next session is now scheduled on the 29^th of January – 1^st of February, 2024.

Lithium-ion Safety Draws Increasing Attention

Following the publication of MGN 681 on Fire safety and storage of small electric powered craft on yachts in June 2023, the issue of Li-ion battery equipment on vessels is now becoming the focus of attention in the maritime industry at large. This has been reflected in the new guidance “Carriage of Electric Vehicles with Lithium-Ion Batteries – Information for Masters and crew” issued to the industry by the UK’s Chamber of Shipping in November 2023.
