Short Range Certificate Exam

To apply for the Marine Radio Operator Certificate of Competence (Short Range Certificate), you are required to complete an in-person exam. The exam typically lasts around an hour and a half and has two parts - a written test and a practical assessment using a marine VHF (Very High Frequency) Radio / DSC (Digital Selective Calling) set.

Prior booking the exam, you need to obtain an Application to be examined for the marine radio Short Range Certificate (SRC). This Application is processed by the RYA and requires a fee of 76GBP payable directly to the RYA.
