This month Seascope would like to introduce you to our awesome GUEST trainer Faith!

Hello Faith, long time no see! Thanks for popping in to see us at Seascope. How are you ?

Hi Alyson, I’m fantastic thanks. Glad to be here!

- Can you tell us a bit about yourself and your life at present?

I am a typical Australian girl living in Antibes, where l have been based for the last 20 years. I was working on Yachts for 10 years before meeting my wonderful husband and having 2 gorgeous children with him. As a mother I was land based but continued working together with my husband running a popular bar/restaurant in the centre of Antibes.

- What made you interested in becoming a GUEST trainer for Seascope?

Being friends with the Seascope team, it just happened by chance that one day they were discussing the GUEST program and I suddenly thought, well that sounds right up my street. I have plenty of experience from my years on Yachts and also I have worked in several very high end villas and I realised that I would love to share my knowledge and experience with people.

I received the accreditation to teach the Introduction to Interior Training in 2022 and have loved teaching the first few courses with Seascope.

One of the things I love about Yachting is that there are always students from different walks of life, everyone has a different story to tell however, the one thing they have in common is the desire to get their first position on board and set off on their Yachting journey!

- Can you explain to us why the GUEST course is so important for aspiring stewardesses?

The GUEST course provides the students with the basic skills and confidence to step into their first role as stewardess. Standards on Yachts are like none other, I remember thinking when I got my first position as a junior stewardess "everything is so spotless, clean and tidy, what is there to do?!"

Is this the correct product for cleaning marble? How do I wash the Guests silk dress? How do I make a Negroni? How do I make and serve a coffee? What is synchronised service? How do I unpack guests clothes from their suitcase?

- Going back to your life onboard Yachts, what did/do you love about Yachting ?

There are so many aspects to yachting that I did love and still do.

I actually just did a season onboard a busy charter boat this summer and I loved it. I left my husband and two children for the summer and I set sail again after several years of being out of the Yachting world!

Initially however l got into yachting for the travel, it is a great way to travel while earning great money at the same time. The crew are from different countries, different backgrounds but at the end of the day it is like one big family onboard. I am a people’s person and a people pleaser is it really is a wonderful job for me!

- and finally Faith what is your best memory while in the Yachting Industry?

Seriously!!!! You want just one memory!!  Wow give me a minute so l can narrow it down to just one.

On one boat I was working on as second stew I was required to go to Paris with my Chief Stew to offer extra assistance in the lead up to the wedding of our Boss' daughter. So off we set to Paris thinking we would be doing the normal stewardess duties, however when we arrived, much to my delight and surprise, I was required to assist the bride, oversee guest bookings at the hotel spa and also to represent the family at some of the oldest and finest jewellery house in the world.  I was having millions of euros worth of jewellery draped over me during these visits. (I lived like an owner for a very short period…

During this working trip to Paris I even got to hang out with Kylie Minogue, my childhood idol! Memories which I will never forget!

Wow Faith, its been great to chat to you. Your enthusiasm for Yachting and your work is extremely impressive!
